The Lancaster County Medical Alliance began on April 24, 1928, originally named, the Lancaster County Medical Auxiliary. We changed our name to the Lancaster County Medical Alliance in April 1993.
The purpose of the Alliance is to assist the physician group known as the Lancaster County Medical Society (LCMS) in programs and projects that improve the health and well-being of people in need in Lancaster County, Nebraska. We also support projects of both our state and national alliances. We promote health education and research and encourage participation of our members in volunteerism within our community health-related projects. Through generous donations, our membership, and through our fundraising projects, we financially support health-related, charitable endeavors through our foundation partnership with the Lancaster County Medical Society (LCMS).
Our membership is diverse and includes both male and female spouses of physicians, single physicians, along with some married physicians, all united in building a healthier community through volunteerism and philanthropy.
The LCMS Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of the LCMA. The purpose of the foundation is exclusively charitable and educational within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The LCMA has donated tens of thousands of dollars to our community organizations through our grants. LCMA has been a major contributor to Healthcare 360 (now LCMS Medical Referral Services) since its inception. Through the years we have provided grants to Friendship Home, St. Monica’s, Rape/Spouse Abuse Crisis Center (now Voices of Hope), CASA, Clinic with a Heart, Milkworks, the American Heart Association, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital and Bright Lights. Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach has been an ongoing project since the fall of 2001. We provide both financial and volunteer hours for this invaluable Lancaster County resource for the hungry in our community.
